Silvana's story
I entered the world of work with a law qualification and a passion to work in criminal justice. I wanted to “achieve”. What that looked like, I wasn’t sure, but I felt I’d know when I held the right title and the right salary! So that’s what I spent the next few years chasing.

I thought I was getting somewhere, until I had my first child. I dreaded returning to work. The position I’d fought so hard for suddenly seemed demanding and thankless. I’d go days without seeing my daughter, and so for the first time I properly took stock.
I weighed up my job satisfaction and lifestyle versus what I was getting from my role and title. The thing I enjoyed most about my career was motivating and supporting people, but opportunities for this had dwindled as I’d progressed.
I changed jobs and joined a charity as an advocate, fighting for the rights of vulnerable people in the community. It was exciting and rewarding. I progressed, and again found myself in an operational managerial role. I was working incredibly hard to improve the service for vulnerable victims, but I wasn’t feeling suitably proud or satisfied by the results I was bringing about.
I realised this was because I’d again moved away from working directly with the people I was supporting.
This was the revelation I needed to pursue something I’d been considering for a while – coaching. This role might not come with a grand title or even a guaranteed salary, but it allows me to work with, and empower, people who have maybe felt stuck – just like I was – and who are ready to weigh up what really matters to them and work out how they can get it.

Silvana made me feel comfortable and relaxed from our very first session. At that time, I felt directionless, uncertain and unhappy in my day-to-day work and with the career choices I had made over the past 10 years. Silvana calmly supported me to untangle these feelings, enabling me to consider alternative ways of thinking and really understand what it is that’s important to me.
4 months later, I’m about to start my dream job. And even more importantly, I’m going into it with confidence and conviction.
Our sessions have made me realise that I deserve to be both happy and valued at work. A lesson that’s not just career changing but life changing; one that will support me in any future endeavour. I honestly can’t recommend her enough. Thank you, Silvana!
